God’s Good Design is a resource designed for youth groups for 11-14 year olds looking at what the bible says about how we are designed as people and how we are to relate to each other. The resource is very flexible so that you can tailor the sessions to suit your particular setting and time slot available.

Each session has a core 10-minute video talk (the script and slides are provided if you prefer the talk to be delivered by one of your leaders) and the videos include opportunities to pause for thought/discussion if you wish.

Discussion Questions are provided to stimulate reflection on what has been heard in the talk (these might be suitable for a youth club with children from a more mixed background). For a Sunday group or where many of the members are Christians you may prefer to use the Bible Study instead.

A variety of other resources are also provided, such as suggestions for warm up activities, testimonies, relevant articles, factsheets and recommended background reading for leaders.

These sessions could be covered weekly over a term or you may prefer to spread them out a bit more depending on your situation.

Course Overview

  1. God is the good Creator

God is the creator of all things and He is good. He reveals Himself to us in His word and His ways are good.

  2. Created male and female

God has created men and women differently; together they reflect His image, fill the world and  look after it.

  3. Created for relationship

God created us for relationships – with Him and with others. Our relationships with others should reflect and strengthen our relationship with God.

  4. The purpose of puberty

God designed the changes of puberty to prepare children to become adults both in physical maturity and in maturing of the mind.

  5. Marriage and singleness

God designed marriage as the building block of society and ultimately as a picture of Christ and the church. The biblical description of marriage (and singleness) is, therefore, of vital importance.

  6. Making good choices

God created us and knows what is best for us. His word guides us and we need to make good choices in following it.

  7. Honouring parents

God shows the importance of honouring our parents by giving us a command, and a promise that we will prosper when we obey.
